Misses the Mark submitted by Meginator on July 25, 2022, 10:33pm This picture book follows a pair of bears as they prepare for Christmas, with the younger bear constantly asking the question in the title. The illustrations carry a lot of the book’s charm, but the older bear’s emotions seem to change a bit too quickly without enough time for convincing transitions and make the book itself feel a bit mean-spirited; I empathized much more with the older bear than I think I was supposed to. This book has a lot of visual appeal and is built on a cute idea, but the story doesn’t progress in a way that makes sense and I didn’t particularly enjoy reading it.
