In the small, rustic town of Garrison, Maine, Brady is on one of his usual weekend trips from Boston to visit his girlfriend Alexandria Shaw. Driving the windy roads he encounters Charlotte Gillespie, a middle-aged African-American woman carrying an injured dog and offers her a ride to the vet. On Brady's next weekend getaway he is met with a letter from Charlotte asking for help. But when he goes to her home a Swastika is spray-painted on her house and she has disappeared.
