When his mother dies, 38-year-old Bartholomew Neil, who doesn't know how to be on his own, discovers a letter in his mother's underwear drawer that causes him to write a series of highly intimate letters to actor Richard Gere, while embarking on a quest to find out where he belongs.

Maybe Too Quirky submitted by sdunav on June 16, 2014, 2:07pm I liked some of this novel about a bunch of misfits, set in epistolary form (a bunch of fan letters to Richard Gere), but some of the quirkiness was just....too self-conscious or precious or something. It seemed a little too pat. Maybe it was just the mood I was in at the time.
