Edwina is well-known in her neighborhood, she plays with kids, she bakes delicious chocolate chip cookies and helps old ladies cross the street. She is well-loved by everyone except for one person: Reginald Von Hoobie-Doobie. He knows for a fact that dinosaurs are extinct and tries to convince everyone that they are. What happens when Edwina finds out?

Great Story, Questionable Moral Takeaway submitted by Meginator on June 30, 2019, 1:57pm This book is (unsurprisingly) quite funny, anchored by delightful illustrations that add to the story’s innate humor. Mo Willems excels at drawing exaggerated emotional expressions that work really well with his generally cartoonish style, and the page layouts allow for some nice variation in the pacing. The story itself is fairly silly and far from didactic, but I was slightly put off by its subtle suggestion that facts and scientific inquiry don’t necessarily matter in the face of shared community delusion; in our current political climate, that type of thinking is downright dangerous. This is an excellent example of a delightful little book whose time has perhaps passed.
