COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Fantastic submitted by Amber Kinder on June 30, 2014, 5:13pm I loved this book. It's hard to find such a well written, well researched book that completely transports you into it's world. This is one of them. It reminded me a little of The Night Circus (which I also loved).

Museum submitted by mrondo on June 17, 2017, 10:09pm I loved the NY history and Jewish culture that was imbedded into the story. The symbolism and recurring themes were also brilliant. However, toward the end the love story aspect got a bit cheesy. It was still a very enjoyable read though.

Personally not a favorite, but good book club discussion submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 7, 2018, 6:12pm I did not particularly enjoy this book, although I am writing my review long afterward and so may not capture my memories of the “why” accurately. I did enjoy that as historical fiction, _Museum_ captured the ambiance and history of the sideshows of New York City and the events around the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. Growing up in NY State, I did like the history of the state and the Hudson River.

I did not enjoy the ways that _Museum_ shifted from realism to fantasy and found that to be distracting. The father’s cruelty was a turn-off, but I have certainly read books about terrible people, acts, and events before and not disliked the books themselves simply because of that. The jumping between timelines was jarring to me. The love story, which eventually became important, did not get introduced until at least half way through the story.

In the end, I’m not sure even as I read it that I could put my finger on why I didn’t enjoy this book, but it wasn’t a favorite.
