Sequel to "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" submitted by FordAlpha on July 18, 2018, 9:35pm A little more complicated than "Peter Rabbit" but much simpler than "The Tailor of Gloucester", "Benjamin Bunny" is a sequel that adds to the world of its predecessor but doesn't equal its vitality. Peter Rabbit and his cousin Benjamin return to Mr. McGregor's garden while the Mr. and Mrs. are out, so as to retrieve Peter's lost clothes. They accomplish this aim, and also make an effort to gather some onions for Peter's mother, but end up trapped for hours by the McGregors' cat. Salvation--and punishment--arrive in the form of Benjamin's father, a rabbit sufficiently formidable to send off the cat (and lock it in the shed!). Needless to say, his formidability extends to his wayward son and nephew, who get a whupping for their mischief. As with all Beatrix Potter's work, the illustrations are perfect. As a child, I was particularly taken with Benjamin's tam-o-shanter and red handkerchief.

Sweet submitted by alemmon100 on July 26, 2021, 2:00pm We love Beatrix Potter. My son loves the tiny little books.

Classic submitted by JennJenn on July 22, 2023, 4:24am While written long ago, these little books offer delightful characters that are engaging and memorable.
