Good to know for my brain

Grain Brain dispels many food and diet myths with real science. Is specifically calls out the low fat diet advocated by the US health system for the past 50 years as being unhealthy and links all of it to peer reviewed science publications to prove it. The focus is on brain health and the author Dr. Perlmutter is a neurologist. The benefits do not stop there. The same science and practices are excellent for diabetics. Excellent explanations of the metabolism of what we eat and how it effects our bodies are given. Anyone suffering from depression, ADHD or other metal illness would benefit from reading this book and adopting some or all of its suggestions.
If you have read the authors newer book, Brain Maker, you will read a lot of things in common. This book does a better job explaining some of the metabolism around sugar and specifically mentions the very important work of Robert Lustig. Brain maker instead focuses on the microbiome. The books overlap a lot, and they also complement one another. If I could only read one, I'd choose the newer Brain Maker.
