Bland submitted by celesteh on May 12, 2010, 10:42am I was disappointed with this one because it came so highly recommended. It seemed a bit too dated, also boring. Kept waiting for it to "get good." Never did. Didn't care one iota about any of the characters...what was the point? If anyone knows, fill me in. Best thing about the book was it's setting in New Orleans, during Mardi Gras.

I remember it being quiet and rich with interior reality. submitted by lisa on August 28, 2015, 11:30am Like, a psychological novel, of solitude. But it was years ago I read it. I just requested the audiobook version ( http://www.aadl.org/catalog/record/1461161 ) and am gonna revisit.

Moviegoer--wry, southern, philosophical novel submitted by John Staunton on August 1, 2018, 10:55am Definitely anchored in an era--but well-written and thoughtful--though some of the characterizations and plot vehicles (i.e. a dilettente businessman who serially hires and dates his secretaries/assistants) don't age well.
