Why are we here? submitted by kwarren on June 14, 2015, 9:23am If you have ever wondered what purpose we serve in the grand scheme of things then this book may help you out. It is a great story of a doctor battling a plague in an Algerian town. It is also an allegory for World War II and Nazi occupation. This book will really make you think about what it means to be a good person and how easy it is to be a bad one. This hands down offers one of the greatest explanations for what evil truly is and how we can combat it. If you want to read one of the best books ever written pick up a copy now.

Dark with a purpose submitted by pepemama on August 7, 2019, 1:47pm So much of the world is dark. And it seems endless and pointless. This book does not bask in the dark - it explores it. A tough read (not because it is difficult - I am looking at you Dante's Inferno), but one that is so important. Wonderful book.

A favorite submitted by crp on August 10, 2019, 6:47am One of my all time favorites- literally the prose jumps off the page and is unforgettable. He is almost lyrical in his writing.

Stunning writing, and very prescient submitted by jaromatorio on July 24, 2020, 11:55am This book is extremely topical right now, and will make you really think about life's deeper questions

Relevant story, fascinating philosophy submitted by lizgiessner on August 18, 2023, 8:21pm The similarities to the pandemic are amazing! Camus' insights into human nature shown through interesting characters made this a truly great read.
