Great submitted by Memoria1224 on July 17, 2012, 3:44pm This is a great book. The plane that Brian is on crashes and he survives in the wilderness for some time before he's rescued. This book has a lot of adventure and survival in it. I loved reading it!

Awesome submitted by ECReader on July 9, 2015, 12:53pm This was a great adventure story about a boy surviving alone in the Canadian woods. I think this book is a must-read!

great book submitted by jinliu on July 2, 2016, 11:09am I think this is one of the best books I've ever read. It makes you think like what would it feel like to be stranded in the the wilderness having to survive on your own with nothing but a hatchet.

the hatchet submitted by kzheng on July 9, 2016, 5:11pm I love the simplicity of the plot. There are few characters, but Brian is wonderfully painted as he changes over the course of the story. Defying all odds. he manages to survive a winter stuck in the wildness with only a hatchet.

good submitted by rat hand on June 20, 2017, 7:44am really well

Really good submitted by Theaco on June 18, 2018, 9:28am Hatchet was really (really) good, though it surprised me how short the book was.

Great read! submitted by ravsara on July 21, 2018, 9:09am My eleven year old daughter insisted that I read this, and I completely see why she loved it so much. The language is simple, direct. The plot is quick and I found myself not being able to put it down! Wonderful book that teaches the power of resilience.

Hatchet submitted by SBNB on June 23, 2019, 8:04pm I read this book in elementary school, and I still think about it every so often. It is a great book about survival in the Canadian wilderness.

Interesting submitted by Annabeth4 on June 24, 2019, 5:47pm This book is pretty good but gruesome at times.

Good submitted by anupamap on August 27, 2019, 11:32am It was a good book. It is interesting to see how brian manages to survive alone in the wilderness far from home.

Quick, easy read submitted by VickyB77 on June 14, 2020, 2:10pm Cool story, though I wish there was more details in some of the day-to-day stuff. The author brushed over some highlights, but for being stranded for 54 days, the author only gave us highlights. Maybe more would have been boring, I don't know.

Great book! submitted by srajapaksa on July 11, 2020, 10:08pm This book is about survival. A boy is stranded in the middle of nowhere and has to learn how to survive. Along the way, he learns to be grateful for his life and forgive and forget. This book would be great for middle schoolers and I highly recommend it!

Hatchet submitted by jhaberich on June 27, 2021, 11:29am This a a book about a boy and how he struggles to survive in the woods. I read this book in fourth or maybe fifth grade and I thought it was a great read. This book is the beginning of a fairly short series of which talks more about this boy and a few returns to survival. This is a great book for people who like adventure!
