Story and Illustrations Don't Always Match submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 6:43pm This cute picture book pairs traditional rhythmic rhyming text with comics-inspired layouts to tell a surprisingly sentimental story that doesn’t particularly match the visual design. However, the book is still enjoyable for its rollicking sense of humor and its rolling rhythm, which make it a great read-aloud book that is particularly good for readers in the early elementary school grades (and maybe some older preschoolers). Despite a bit of a mismatch between the author and illustrator, both are excellent at their parts of the book and it all comes together well enough even if it does feel a bit off-kilter.
