He's the Bane! submitted by meliskim on August 2, 2011, 6:34pm Drew Karpyshyn has a great, cinematic, action-oriented style of writing that captures the true nature of the Dark Side. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading (to appease my boyfriend's Star Wars infatuation), but I was happily surprised. Karpyshyn paints the scenes of Sith malice and betrayal with a charisma that draws you into the world of the Force.

The Bane of the Sith submitted by Flying Sheep on August 24, 2011, 8:04am I was very excited when I first heard that Drew Karpyshyn had written a book. Karpyshyn wrote the storyline to the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic video game which is easily my favorite video game ever. Darth Bane is very interesting because it is in some ways, an allegory. Bane starts out as a miner that works with violent, dangerous people and has an abbusive father. He then rises to be a powerful Sith (the evil counterparts of the Jedi). In ways, it portrays how oppressed people become cruel and go from being oppressed to being oppressive to those who are below them. The book is very compelling and after reading a chapter, I felt like I had to continue and could not set the book down. Anyone who has played Knights of the Old Republic will love this book as the book has many of the same elements as the game. It has unique, interesting characters, lots of action, and a tendency to take suprising and unexpected twists. Even if you are only a casual Star Wars fan, I would strongly recommend this book. Aside from being well written and being very interesting, it has a very important role in the Star Wars story and explains a confusing mystery found in the original six movies.
