Wow submitted by chasehyatt99 on June 15, 2014, 2:05pm In delving into the rich treasure trove of history and tradition that is the Big Ten, Bacon also gives a unique perspective of the folly of the NCAA and their weak attempts to police the world of college football in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky incident at Penn State. Following four programs: Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Northwestern, Bacon buries himself in the programs and learns so much more than anyone on the outside every could. One of the most interesting nonfiction books out there.
Insightful Analysis submitted by Mary Morgan on June 21, 2015, 8:22am In this comprehensive analysis of American college football, local author John U. Bacon combines his storytelling skills, journalistic abilities and deep understanding of this nation's sports psyche to reveal some disturbing truths. As history unfolds, John's insights – particularly as related to the era under former University of Michigan athletic director David Brandon – are proving all too accurate. Looking forward to his next book!
