Under the Sea they Love to Play (Music) submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 10:22am This charming picture book takes its visual cues from Japanese kawaii culture, cleverly using the illustrations to convey the various sounds that are crucial to the story. The moral component is strong and reminds readers that everyone has something valuable to offer, even if their contributions are quite different from what they initially expect. I do think that one part of the story slightly undermines the overall message (the supposedly un-musical Wendell is able to tap), but not to the point where it undermines the core message. The book is charming and the musical component makes it a good choice for reading aloud.
