GOOD submitted by kevinhe on July 26, 2019, 12:13pm a very nice book.

A good read submitted by bec on August 8, 2022, 11:47am The book starts with the Goodenough family as they struggle to make their way- and as the parents struggle with one another- in the (real, but now mostly extinct) Great Black Swamp of northwest Ohio. It follows their son as he leaves the family and travels west, escaping his memories and falling in love with tree collecting. Chevalier depicts the strange period where imperial collectors are seeking "exotic" plants from around the world and bringing them home to their own collections, but also keeps her focus on the complex characters as they fall into and out of each other's lives.
