Wicked Disgusting Fun submitted by sdunav on July 22, 2011, 2:50pm Entertaining book - perfect for browsing - if you aren't overly grossed out by insect borne diseases and parasitism. The only insect I hadn't heard about in this book that truly terrified me was the Asian Giant Hornet (a 5 cm long monster also known as the yak-killer), which forages garbage in Asian cities and inflicts a deadly neurotoxin along with its painful sting.

There are plenty of disgusting facts about bedbugs, lice, centipedes (yes, we know they're not bugs, but Stewart includes a few other crawly vermin here to great effect), bot flies, tapeworms, chiggers, blow flies, death watch beetles, and spiders here. The drawings are tasteful and not too graphic, and the whole book is a nice size for holding while you're sitting outside - hopefully not suffering from "perfect leaf syndrome" (where you feel the need to inform park rangers about insect predation on plants) or entomophobia.

Well researched and written submitted by gardenfaerie on August 6, 2017, 8:15pm This book is enjoyable, easy to read and very informative. Each chapter on a different bug is quick and fun to get through.

great book submitted by kevinhe on August 1, 2019, 8:18pm these horrible bugs could kill people. good to know them.

"Wicked" Bugs submitted by teri on August 17, 2020, 11:10pm An entertaining book - just bear in mind that most "bugs" are not diabolical. Even the "bugs" featured in this book are only trying to survive!
