Bob Dylan:Hwy 61
submitted by ccrose on August 9, 2019, 3:38pm
This is a combo of history and on the scene stories of what was going on during the writing and recording of the album. Mark Polizzotti is a music critic who lines up Dylan’s early Bringing it all Back Home, Hwy 61, and Blonde on Blonde and explains how Hwy 61 was the album that cemented Dylan’s evolved style.
The book is written more like a scholarly dissertation than casual reading, but very short. I picked out segments that were interesting. Highway 61, by the way, is in Mississippi, the only highway out of the state and going straight north., where all the bluesmen and women packed their suitcases and went.
The song I like best on the album is “Like a Rolling Stone.”
