Nice story for kids submitted by r-chopra on June 18, 2012, 9:14pm My son liked the story because of bear and mamma bear.

Cute story submitted by VickyB77 on July 25, 2012, 11:35am Great summertime story - especially when Michigan blueberries are in season! My 3 year old loved it!

Great classic tale submitted by ValerieL on June 24, 2013, 2:24pm One of my favorites as a child and still is today. Such a great story about children going out with their respective parents to the blueberry fields and coming home with the wrong parent! I don't know who is more surprised - Mama bear when she finds Little Sal or Mama when she finds baby bear! A cute story that remains a childhood classic.

A classic submitted by lulumama on July 6, 2013, 7:41pm Such a sweet book

cute and calm submitted by fairytale on July 28, 2013, 11:15am A cute, calm story. Especially good for younger readers.

one of my favorites :)

Wordy submitted by downing on July 25, 2015, 2:27am I find this book wordy and long. But I really like the vintage illustrations and how much my kid loves it

great submitted by poptart887 on July 30, 2015, 2:36pm great book. loved it as a kid.

Sweet submitted by Zekicmom on August 30, 2015, 7:26pm A lovely story about Sal blueberry picking with her mother and crossing paths with a bear cub and her mother doing the exact same thing.

cute submitted by blue77rose on July 20, 2018, 4:25pm Very cute story. Fun to read after an afternoon of berry picking.

Childhood favorite! submitted by halliejewell on August 9, 2018, 4:01am Love the cute story of Sal and her mother and baby bear and her mother berry picking! Great illustrations! Lasting story!

Sweet as berries! submitted by terpsichore17 on July 16, 2019, 12:54pm A cute little parallel tale of children and their mothers picking berries!

My only quibble is that Sal's mother would need a MUCH larger berry bucket to can as much fruit as she does.

Love this classic submitted by JennJenn on August 12, 2020, 3:21pm The juxtaposition of the two stories of mothers and small ones is fun and sweet. It is also pleasantly realistic in parents reminding children to pick their own berries rather than snitching the ones that mom has picked.

A timeless classic! submitted by mickplu on June 17, 2023, 7:55am I loved this book as a child and have since read it to many pre-schoolers who also found the simple story to be captivating. A perfect way to celebrate the blueberry season.

Timeless submitted by liebermanjanice on August 8, 2023, 4:27pm This old book is a classic and will be appeal to children (and adults!) for many years to come. We loved the connection between the humans and bears and the wonderful repetition in the language.

Such a classic book submitted by czadams on August 24, 2023, 12:30am I love this book so much! It is so wholesome. Kids need this type of innocent story.
