Not Worthy of the Original Series Run submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 9:34pm This new Magic School Bus adventure lacks much of the original books’ charm, prioritizing the adventure above the educational component. This would be fine if these two aspects were united in the service of the story, but they aren’t; instead, the information about flowers and pollination is limited primarily to vocabulary and the class’s magical adventures aren’t particularly exciting. I did enjoy the riff on Phoebe’s refrain about her old school, which will be a fun reference for anyone familiar with either the original books or the television show, but it isn’t enough to carry the story. The illustrations also lack life, with the characters feeling just a bit off from either their original or television incarnations. This book provides a decent, if very broad, introduction to the idea of pollination, but it isn’t as exciting or thorough as you’d expect from a Magic School Bus tale.
