To Get to the Other Side submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 11:20am This book is a circular(?) tale of cause and effect that takes a chicken crossing the road as a starting point and unspools a lot of delightful silliness from there. The illustrations are crafted in a colorful, cartoonish style that helps sell the narrative, with some fun details scattered about for extra laughs. My only issue with the book is that the pivotal moment at the end is not actually linked to the chain, which is a disappointment as it breaks the circle and makes that final punch whiff instead of landing effectively. Still, the book balances its absurdism and plausibility effectively and the answer to the question of why the chicken crosses the road is entertaining even if it doesn’t follow from the course of bizarre events as it should.
