humorous and spot on submitted by adimarzo on July 13, 2011, 9:25am This story about a pigeon trying to stay up past his bedtime is funny and accurately captures the many excuses kids come up with to stay up just a little longer at night. Cute illustrations (including an appearance by the Knuffle Bunny from Mo Willems' other well known book).

funny book! submitted by fairytale on August 13, 2011, 2:37pm What a hilarious read for kids.

so true submitted by kathscot on August 14, 2012, 8:35pm Kids and parents can relate and will enjoy this book. One of several featuring Pigeon wanting to do something he shouldn't.

fun submitted by lulumama on July 21, 2013, 7:33pm My 6yo loves this series and can read it on his own.

Cute! submitted by Amber Kinder on June 14, 2014, 10:00am This book is very cute and interactive. Kids love telling the pigeon no!

hilarious! submitted by 3rdwitch on July 26, 2014, 1:15pm the pigeon fell asleep itself!

tired pigeon submitted by mtrax on August 21, 2014, 12:15pm I love that the pigeon is holding Knuffle Bunny on the cover.

Love it submitted by chioma on June 13, 2015, 6:27pm I think all pigeon books are amazing. Cute and funny, and I loved it!

all ages submitted by lgpat on August 25, 2015, 7:31pm all ages will enjoy this

so much fun submitted by ashflowtuff on July 27, 2016, 10:28am Mo Willems is just so much fun. Pigeon cracks me up. And my kids always crack up at me reading this story to them. And I ALWAYS yawn when pigeon does!

very funny submitted by Hanh Bui on August 26, 2017, 7:43am shows all the tricks that kids come up with when they want to stay up late, and more

a familiar scene submitted by FordAlpha on August 28, 2017, 12:03pm The Pigeon is a proxy for all perpetually petulant toddlers, and I'm not that fond of him. But the kids love the Pigeon's antics. Mo Willems expertly captures the negotiation tactics of a child who doesn't want to go to bed. My favorite in the "won't go to bed" genre is still "Bedtime for Francis", but the Pigeon will do in a pinch.

Favorite Pigeon Book submitted by wellscai on August 11, 2018, 2:52pm This is my favorite of the Pigeon books. Of course, Pigeon wants to stay up late, but his obvious yawning says otherwise. An entertaining story that will definitely appeal to kids who know exactly how the Pigeon feels.

Don't Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late submitted by SBNB on July 20, 2019, 10:05pm I just don't see the appeal of these pigeon books. We've read a few now, and none of them were that great. They were ok, but we didn't want to read them again. This one is no different.

Fun submitted by TLW1998 on July 28, 2019, 6:14pm A good book about the pigeon once again trying to do something that he shouldn’t.

Fun read submitted by katiekipp on July 19, 2021, 11:25am Mo and pigeon are always welcome at our house

Surprisingly Relatable submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 9:07am The Pigeon returns triumphantly in this book, which finds the reader charged with making sure they go to bed at a reasonable time. Like all of the Pigeon books, the use of dialogue brings the reader directly into the story as the Pigeon gets up to all sorts of antics to try to avoid going to bed. I suspect that the vast majority of readers will relate as the Pigeon does everything possible to put off the inevitable, only to get the customary comeuppance (with a neat bit of irony) in the end. As always, the illustrations make the absolute most of a fairly simple character design, bringing the Pigeon and their many emotions to life with just a few tweaks from page to page, and a few flurries of movement. This is one of the best Pigeon books, though, as a rule, you can’t go wrong with the series or author.

sleepy time submitted by VanCancue on August 23, 2021, 11:04am Pigeon wants to stay up like me! Pigeon is so hilarious!!!! - 6 yr old

I know this pigeon submitted by klroo on June 14, 2022, 1:11pm I read this story to my baby every night and he IS the pigeon. But because the book is so silly and delightful, I’m happy to read it one million times. Mo Willems is a treasure.
