COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Personal Accounts submitted by michrigan on December 6, 2021, 12:47pm This is a book written for children but it has so many original words from former slaves that is just as relevant or more so than adult books on African American history and even life today. These accounts tell of events which I never knew or even expected. It was written in the 1960s and is still acknowledged today as a Newbery Honor book. I have read many books on the subject and had courses. None had so much explicit and personal details as this book does -- life on a day-to-day level.
