vivid setting and good characters submitted by bec on July 11, 2023, 10:19am For me, the biggest draw to this book was definitely the author's writing about Venice- the community, landscape, ways of life, and the FOOD. I just wanted to cook everything they ate. But it's also a great mystery and the start of a satisfying series with Detective Brunetti, who's a pretty well-adjusted antidote to the tired stock character of the hard drinking/divorced/tortured detective type.
