Great Variety of One-Dish Meals submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:59pm There is so much more to casseroles than you might think, and this book is packed full of one-dish meals that are innovative, fresh, and delicious. The recipes do involve a bit of prep work (primarily chopping or cooking aromatics and meats), but most can be adapted for ready-made (i.e., canned, frozen, or pre-cooked) ingredients to make them even easier, but anyone who knows their way around the kitchen can knock out the preparation fairly quickly and more or less on autopilot. Although few of the recipes are particularly daring with flavor combinations or spices, neither are they boring and bland; Durand knows how to get quite a lot of flavor out of a long-simmering dish, and the recipes are quite open for tinkering (which the author herself happily encourages). I loved having this book around for quick weeknight and breakfast options, and I plan to buy a copy for my own collection. I highly recommend this, especially to cooks who are just starting to branch out and play around with different flavors.
