Overlong and Poorly Edited submitted by sdunav on June 16, 2014, 8:36pm This is the 18th Lynley/Havers mystery - and unfortunately, the books are not as good as they used to be. The characters are still fascinating, but this mystery is downright bloated (over 700 pages - heavy to carry while traveling, but I had a hc from the library, not an e-book ). And though the setting in Lucca, Italy, is interesting - both in terms of police procedure and scenery - the constant and unnecessary use of Italian phrases was annoying.

Still, I liked the ending, some of the plot twists, and I still want to know how Lynley and Havers get on, so I'll hope the next book is a bit tighter and better edited.
