Tina Fey submitted by bubbles1234 on June 18, 2011, 4:02pm This is a wonderfully written book! It is filled with humor and wit. Any fan of Tina Fey should read this book!

Bossypants submitted by ckuranz on June 20, 2011, 2:36am I read this book on an airplane and I laughed so hard my co-passengers were giving me strange looks. It was a fun, quick read and I found her pre-30 rock history to be fascinating. A great book!

cool submitted by tcaldera97 on June 22, 2011, 2:26pm cool

Funny pants! submitted by hcf on June 23, 2011, 8:42pm I found myself laughing out loud many times as I read this book. A must read!

Good Read submitted by Sonia on June 29, 2011, 4:16pm I didn't really know much about Tina Fey before I read this book. After i read it i have so much more respect for her for getting to where she is now. This is unlike any autobiographical book I have ever read because is so much more entertaining!

Entertaining! submitted by Lea on July 5, 2011, 1:36pm Well-written and very entertaining! Loved reading it -- but somewhat forgettable afterwards. Still, definitely recommend this for a fun summer read!

Bossypants submitted by slsk on July 6, 2011, 8:01pm A quick read, fun, and very funny!

Bossypants submitted by klmlewis on July 8, 2011, 11:26am A quick look into Tina's life as an early comedienne and her journey to 30 Rock. Very funny, and hard to put down. Finished in just a few short days, it's worth a quick read.

Perfect Light Summer Read submitted by sdunav on July 8, 2011, 1:10pm Not that Janet Evanovich is phoning her books in, Tina Fey's memoir is the perfect alternative for something a bit heavier (and much, much funnier) than People magazine.

Great! submitted by evelyn on July 13, 2011, 7:54pm This book is so funny! You will read it in one or two sittings.

Good read submitted by karenkay on July 15, 2011, 4:36pm Tina Fey has a wonderful ability to identify important turning points in her life. Her description of these moments is both interesting and funny. Definitely worth reading.

Funny, but sometimes slow submitted by eringogreen on July 16, 2011, 12:21pm I enjoyed this book and found it easier to pick up my 600-page fiction read I'm also working on. However, I found some parts to be a little less interesting and craving my usual fiction reads. If you like celebrity books, you'll like this.

Tina submitted by Hsiao-Yun Hwang-Pang on July 25, 2011, 6:08pm She is just so funny

LOL! submitted by messelti on August 17, 2011, 11:50am In addition to being well-written, this book was so funny that I was literally laughing out loud while reading it, which was unfortunate since I read most of it in public.

"Ignore the crazy lady, kids, she's got a Tina Fey book in her hands."

Bossypants?! More Like, Um, Awesomepants! submitted by Sara W on August 25, 2011, 7:10pm Tina Fey is nothing if not honest. About everything. About her awkward childhood, her teenage drama friend years, her uninterested or gay boyfriend-chasing college years to her successful, ammbitious SNL years and then her working-mom, wealthy-Manhattanite guilt.

If I should ever be called upon to do a magazine cover shoot, I feel like she has prepared me adequately to do a good job. And to expect vegetable tartlets.

As a 30 Rock fan (and who read this book who isn't a 30 Rock fan?) I really enjoyed the look at how the show was developed and is run. She calls out some of her favorite jokes and sequences and then credits the writers who came up with them. It's one of the funniest, and nicest parts of the book.

Little Miss Bossy submitted by Caser on January 19, 2012, 7:24pm I think 30 Rock is one of the best comedies on television that isn't really funny. The characters are a great, the script is sharp, the concept is solid, but the jokes have made me really laugh only once. Fey's work on Weekend Update and her stint as Palin were memorable, but far from the best work on television.

This, however, was a very fun and funny read. I definitely let myself laugh right out loud several times. Despite being one of the most successful writers and actors in television right now, her stories of her early career, from local improv to YMCA receptionist to SNL writer to the executive producer on 30 Rock are all easy to relate to for anyone in the working world.

The book falters in both humor and fluidity in the last few chapters on motherhood, where she doesn't seem to have as firm a grasp on what her point is, or what the joke is. Up to that point, it's big laughs and great stories.

Hilarious! submitted by fizzleskittle on June 24, 2012, 5:47pm I love Tina Fey, so I had high expectations going in. This didn't disappoint! This is a quick read and perfect as a "pick up and put down" book for visits to the doctor, the beach, etc.

Fun submitted by ashflowtuff on June 28, 2012, 1:08pm I thought this book was very funny and interesting.

Highly recommended submitted by klickitat on August 6, 2012, 8:02am This book isn't so much a memoir as a collection of essays about (among other things) Fey's experiences growing up, cutting her teeth in the entertainment industry, her management style, her feminist philosophy, and her approach to parenting. Given the range of topics covered in a such a short book, it can feel a little disjointed if read in one sitting. But I wouldn't let that deter you. Just because it isn't a linear narrative doesn't mean it isn't a great read. There are an equal share of hilarious moments and words of wisdom. As a young professional woman trying to find my own niche, I was inspired by the "But we make the show" anecdote, in which Fey states that no one has to worry about being irrelevant if they're making their own opportunities. What I love about Fey (and the people she surrounds herself with) is that she's entirely herself and she doesn't care if you like it. She's clearly faced discrimination but, bully for her, she didn't let it discourage her or become bitter. She just laughed it off and kept on working toward what she wanted. I don't know about you, but that's the kind of person I want to be, and so this book was valuable to me.

Tina Fey is a classic submitted by Isabella Giviyan on June 18, 2017, 10:45am Fey writes relatable yet personal stories, and makes fun of everyday occurances.

Light and fun submitted by alireingold on June 18, 2017, 3:12pm A quick fun read. Great for the summer!

Funny with heart submitted by sheryl205 on June 19, 2017, 6:48pm Tina Fey definitely keeps it light, but also shows heart. Realistic about being a working mom.

As Funny As Its Author submitted by Meginator on July 5, 2017, 1:38pm Tina Fey is hilarious, and her memoir accurately captures her voice, whether or not she's telling a joke at the time. I loved this book's delicate balance of humor and heart; it both made me laugh out loud and think deeply, often simultaneously. Fey is honest about many of the challenges she's faced, both generally and specifically as a woman, and the book's sections on SNL and the 2008 U.S. election are worth seeking out if you are at all interested in either topic. This is a great book.

What’s not to love? submitted by jbranski on June 19, 2018, 10:23pm I love Tina Fey’s work. 30 Rock and Mean Girls are just amazing.
This book is hilarious and relateable. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to know more about projects Tina has worked on or her background. And it sounds like her. The entire book reads like a letter from Tina to you.

Comedy meets Tina Fey submitted by MaddieBaybeck on June 21, 2018, 5:30pm This book made me laugh. With its out of the box humor it made me bust out laughing. I think this book is steered towards older readers, but younger readers will also understand the comedic jokes.

Tina fey submitted by crp on August 9, 2019, 11:09pm Classic Tina fey- must read if you enjoyed her work in SNL and other tv

Always wonder if funny people are funny at home submitted by ccrose on August 31, 2019, 10:41am She has a sharp mind and a sharp pencil. I like her notions that being funny is not the same as being a good actress. Her writing and directing seem to be her long run tasks to perfect. Seems like she knows how to be egalitarian in working with others. (“Plays well with others”)!
Motherhood does do a number on your mind, making you regroup your importance as either or any of your directions calling.

Tiny Fey submitted by Clown81 on August 31, 2019, 5:15pm Boss lady.

Hilarious and honest submitted by alisonhatch94 on July 21, 2020, 9:15pm I love Tina Fey and her voice comes through so clearly in this book. I laughed out loud at all the wonderful sarcasm and witty commentary. She is also so real and honest and I really like that about this book. She's not afraid to talk about the uncomfortable and embarrassing parts of life which is what makes the reader so able to relate to her. And even though the book is funny, there's a lot of actually helpful advice and good messages.

funny! submitted by umich.reader on June 11, 2022, 6:31pm Good read if you like Tina Fey, SNL, or acting.

Hysterical submitted by ahlalejini on July 19, 2022, 10:22pm It's been almost 10 years since I read this book and parts of it still make me laugh thinking about it!
