Introduction: millions of pet deaths every year - but very little effective help -- Don't feel bad, it was only a ... -- Four major myths that limit us, and more -- Short-term energy relieving behaviors (STERBs) -- Your history of pet losses -- Preparing to review the relationship -- The relationship graph -- Converting your relationship graph into recovery categories -- Apologies -- The grief recovery method completion letter? -- More to do? maybe! -- Conclusionary rituals.
Your relationship with your pet is special - it's a bond that is very different than those that human beings share with each other. When a beloved pet passes away, people often resort to incorrect mechanisms to deal with the grief, such as trying to move too quickly past the loss (dismissing the real impact), or even attempting to replace the pet immediately. However, these are merely two myths out of six that the authors discuss and dismantle in The Grief Recovery Handbook for Pet Loss. Based on the authors' Grief Recovery Method®, this book addresses how losing a pet is different from losing a human loved one, and ultimately, how to move on with life.

A nice grief handbook for pet parents submitted by samanthar on June 27, 2023, 3:28pm This was a nice grief handbook that helped me through the gradual terminal illness of my cat. It was a difficult period of time, with many feelings and emotions. The handbook helped me understand that my pain and sadness was valid. There were a number of exercises outlined that I really enjoyed working through, and they helped me process the events me and my family were experiencing. I recommend this handbook for anyone going through the painful loss of a furry family member.
