Gripping story submitted by krayla on June 14, 2013, 6:44pm This book is so hard to put down! The plot is original and very fast-paced. I would definitely recommend it to fans of science fiction, especially those who like "Ender's Game" or apocalypse novels. The only downside of this book is the writing style: I thought it stereotyped teenagers and could have used a little more sophistication. Overall it was worth reading!

good submitted by michael007 on July 2, 2013, 10:50am The 5th Wave is a good book and worth reading.

Pretty Good! submitted by llgosbee on July 30, 2013, 11:45am If you like compelling sci-fi stories, then this is great! The plot is pretty easy to follow, there's Cassie, the main character, then there's Ben Parish, her first big crush, and Evan Walker, a "farm boy" who saved her life. This book is great. The narration starts out with Cassie, then goes off into Ben Parish's world, then a short insert of Evan Walker before he met Cassie, and then it alternates between Ben and Cassie, until the end. Hope there's a sequel, that's how good it is!

Hard to put down submitted by steveiew on July 29, 2015, 9:20pm Once you start, it is difficult to put down. I finished this book off in an afternoon because I couldn't wait to see what happened. Who is telling the truth? What is real? It was a really good story. Some of the writing was forced but the story line is interesting.

Aliens Done Right submitted by nicole on August 26, 2015, 7:33pm I can't believe I never read this book in my teens--it is so up my alley. A great plot, paced perfectly, with totally likable characters and lots of action to keep my attention. The story had an on-the-run vibe that kept me focused on the story and what would happen next the entire way through. I loved that the aliens were a somewhat mysterious, unknown enemy--it made their role as the villains that much more sinister. Cassie is such an easy character to get behind and root for, so much so that I wanted to shout "Wait! Come back!" every time the story switched perspectives to other characters. But the author does an excellent job of pulling you into whichever character's story he's telling, and the different perspectives telling different bits and pieces of the story worked really well. The tough, smart main character and the action-packed feel of the book reminded be of Maximum Ride, and I think this would make a great read-alike for that series!

very good book submitted by DoodleBob on June 28, 2016, 3:39pm very good science fiction book and was fun to read

Twists and Turns submitted by prashantar on June 19, 2017, 8:57am This book was definitely one of the best sci-fi I've read. It has a good plot and just when you predict something something else happens. Overall it's a really good book and you should read it.

Awesome Book submitted by khaleela11 on July 2, 2018, 5:42pm I tend to not like sci-fi but I heard this book was good so I decided to read it. After the first 5 chapters I could not put the book down, it was soo good. I liked how the author described Cassie really thoroughly. I also loved how the author didn't describe Evan really well so you were thinking throughout the book is he a good guy or a bad guy. It is also so interesting how the author makes all the character's perspectives connect but you don't figure out how they connect until later in the book. The ending ends on a cliffhanger (ahh). I really recommend this book to anyone.

A-mahzing! submitted by Midna on July 8, 2018, 8:18pm I can't believe it's been a year since I read this book! It feels like I just read it last week, except I know I read 'The Ever Afters' last week. I can't wait for this book to come back to me.

If there is one thing I can't believe, it's that the people who made the movie couldn't capture the fury and anger and just intensity of the book. I really hope that they don't make another movie of 'The Infinite Sea' or 'The Last Star'.

I love the way that Yancey twists Evan Walker until he's just a tangle of knots and twist and how he reshapes Cassie over and over. I think that the style this book is written in makes it very gripping. The best part of the book, by far, is the relationship the characters have with each other. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to loose my mother, much less her and my father and my whole world and have to go searching the entire continent for my little brother. I can't imagine the feeling of being trapped under the car, waiting to die, for the silencer to come and shoot me. That's what makes the book so good.

the fifth wave submitted by sandri on August 13, 2018, 5:15pm rly hard to put down

The fifth wave submitted by i'm a blobfish on June 14, 2019, 5:24pm My friend suggested this book to me. The author wastes no time getting into action. If you skip any part of the book though, you may not understand what's happening. The story follows a girl, in a post apocalypse. It starts with the scene where the girl shoots someone, not sure if she can trust them or not. Slowly, the author introduces the backstory and why the girl acts the wave she does. This book is great, although if you are not about death, you shouldn't read this. I cried...

Gripping submitted by c_zhang on June 27, 2019, 11:02pm It's quick paced, but not too fast. There are twists and turns. The story gets kind of confusing sometimes, and the series just goes downhill from here.

AWSOME BOOK submitted by hemanth on July 13, 2019, 10:05pm It is a deep book where you get all the details from the other world they live in. Sometimes it is a scary book especially of her early life.
