To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness--the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists--is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed unless Emperor Elend Venture can find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world.

So good submitted by ishhewitt on July 15, 2016, 10:40am I cry every time I finish this trilogy! So dramatic, and a fitting wrap up.

Unexpected submitted by steveiew on June 22, 2018, 12:51pm While I had guessed one of the big twists in this series the other caught me completely by surprise. This series made me laugh and cry. The final book does the series complete justice.

One of the best trilogies I've ever read submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on July 20, 2018, 11:52pm Again, read a second time long after the first, and I had forgotten pretty much everything except that the trilogy was amazing.

_The Hero of Ages_ is yet again profoundly different than the first two books of the trilogy (the first about revolution and the second about politics). This one is about revelation, and religion, and mysticism. It's about meaning. The world building continues to be as profoundly exquisite as Sanderson has always been, as the world continues to fall apart to Ruin's delight. Characters we love are lost left and right, as well as untold lesser ones on the sidelines. Those in the center of the story struggle with their role, their path, and their purpose.

And Sanderson reveals what he wove into the story from the start... right from the beginning of the first book. Little things become clear. Big things click into place. As a reader, I stopped and searched my memory for past passages, and thought, "Wow!" The last quarter of the book wraps the trilogy in a page-turning way that I could not set down.

Hands down, one of my favorite authors and one of the best trilogies I've ever read.

Great finish to a great series submitted by bahr on July 25, 2021, 10:01pm This book wrapped things up nicely. Tons of action, huge stakes, and huge scenes. I definitely was caught by surprise in so many ways in this book. And I genuinely was kept guessing about how things would go, who would come out on top.

Not only does Sanderson wrap up a ton of loose ends in this one, but he also threads in new ones for the next series and beyond.

I always Recommend this series... submitted by bookasaurusray on July 27, 2022, 5:30pm ...to any and all fantasy lovers - and what an amazing ending to such an epic trilogy
