The character David Foster Wallace is introduced to the banal world of the IRS Regional Examination Center in Peoria, Illinois, and the host of strange people who work there, in a novel that was unfinished at the time of the author's death.

Worth it! submitted by florey on April 19, 2012, 8:19am The breadth and complexities of David Foster Wallace's writings are barriers to reading his fiction. But the rewards make the effort worthwhile. His insights into our human motivations are revealing. His takes on the American politic are prophetic. Bureaucracies are revealed for the inbred, innovation killing entities that they truly are. Enjoy!
the last novel submitted by grubbg on June 13, 2015, 2:06pm Wallace's last (unfinished) novel has parts that are sketched out and parts that are fully developed and finished. Possibly, the whole thing is for fans only. But the finished parts are brilliantly written. Lucid stories on their own. The book bears, inevitably, the pathos of its author's end; but it's pearly parts show a writer in full command of his prodigious gifts. Viva, Wallace.
