"London, 1939. Vivian Smith thinks she is being evacuated to the countryside because of the war. But she is being kidnapped--out of her own time. Her kidnappers are Jonathan and Sam, two boys her own age, from a place called Time City. Built eons ago on a patch of space outside time, Time City was designed especially to oversee history. But now history is going critical, and Jonathan and Sam are convinced that Time City's impending doom can only be averted by a Twenty Century girl named Vivian Smith. Too bad they have the wrong girl...."--P. [4] of cover.

Good Book submitted by kathscot on July 18, 2012, 8:13am Exciting and mysterious. If they don't solve it the world will end!

A Tale Time won't forget! submitted by gulickb on May 9, 2015, 3:15pm This book is confusing at first but then almost all adventures are! It's a tale about 2 boys from a city that is outside of history and a girl, Vivian Smith who is taken out of her time in the Second World War to try and stop the destruction of Time city. The book is written masterfully, but then I would expect no less from Dianna Wynne Jones. The characters are interesting, and the story is very different from anything I'd read before. It is a great read and well worth the time it takes to read it. If you like adventures, time travel or alternative histories you will love this book!

A Tale Of Time City submitted by lstorc on August 5, 2018, 10:52pm Thought provoking and wildly imaginative

Great submitted by anacoluthon on August 18, 2018, 12:51pm An exciting adventure of time travel and saving the world! I notice that Diana Wynne Jones likes the theme of people breaking apart and becoming whole again.
