"Takes materials available at large craft stores (as well as specialty shops and artisan shops on Etsy)--beads, shrink plastic, leather, lace, pearls, sequins, polymer clay, yarn, and pinecones, to name a few--and transforms them into one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. Each of the 35 mini-chapters organized by material consists of three projects and three skill levels"--Amazon.com.

A nice idea submitted by ssands on July 26, 2016, 9:17pm This book seemed really interesting as it promises to teach jewelry making using easy to get and not-too-expensive materials. When I examined each project carefully, it turned out that I didn't want to spend the time on most of them. I was hoping for either surprisingly sleek jewelry made from something cheap around the house that only requires a few tricks to make it beautiful. Or maybe industrial looking jewelry that says this piece was made of rusty washers and I'm proud of it. Instead the jewelry occupies some kind of middle ground in which from a distance it looks ordinary but up close one notices that the necklace is made entirely of office supplies. The pieces mostly aren't overtly cutesy or strongly kitchy, but they do look youthful. I probably lack imagination.
