Delicious! submitted by yugure on October 4, 2012, 12:39pm I recommend this book not only as a vegan, but also as a gluten-free and food-allergy sufferer. Although some of the recipes do include common allergens, they can easily be substituted or left out. The book also occasionally makes suggestions for replacing hard-to-find ingredients, as well as explains any uncommon methods used. Some favorites include Sunshine Spinach Salad, Confetti Rice Salad, and Forbidden Rice Bibimbap. (One strange thing I noticed is that one of the recipes calls for an egg, which is not vegan. I'm guessing that was an editorial error.)
tasty submitted by jessNU on July 25, 2018, 6:43pm As the other reviewer mentioned vegan cooking is great both for vegans and for people with food sensitives.
Uninspiring and Bland Cuisine submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 10:51pm Though this cookbook does offer the variety of vegan recipes promised by its title, I couldn’t help but be disappointed by it. In an era where vegan cookery has expanded far beyond pale imitations of meat-based dishes, these recipes often seemed strangely reductive, and none of the dishes we made had the type of full flavor that I know vegan recipes can provide. Everything we attempted would have benefited from additional seasoning and/or a different preparation method, although the instructions as written are easy enough to follow. After meeting with disappointments from a few different sections of the book, I’m inclined to look elsewhere for a comprehensive guide to vegan cooking. I would recommend this book only to cooks already well-versed in vegan cuisine, who are willing to experiment a little and make alterations as necessary.
