Czech Tales submitted by apicknell on July 10, 2015, 8:53pm Fairy tales are strange - both fantastic and macabre. These tales from Czechoslovakia are a bit less Grimm than there German counterparts, but no less strange. The title tale is about a maiden whose love is abducted by a witch and she will not be reunited until she has worn through twelve pairs of iron sandals. Such ordeals are common throughout and give insight into a different ethos of storytelling. Highly enjoyable read.
