COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Not every track is golden submitted by FordAlpha on August 28, 2017, 8:43pm But so many of them are. The soundtrack to the Beatles' second film (with a madcap plot featuring Ringo being chased by an evil cult), it is not as memorable as the "A Hard Day's Night" soundtrack, but it does include two of the group's #1 hits ("Help!" and "Yesterday") and a number of lesser-known gems. It also shows off the deepening songwriting craftsmanship of Lennon and McCartney, with the introspective ballad "Yesterday".
Nice submitted by adr0202 on June 12, 2021, 6:40pm I really like Beatles music. They make really good music and their music is an absolute classic
beatles! submitted by angie. on August 24, 2021, 9:37pm beatles are so good! love them :)
a bit inconsistent submitted by tisaallen on June 15, 2022, 10:29am The soundtrack to their second film on the first half with some more songs on the second half, it doesn't really add up to a great album but has some strong highlights.
All over the place submitted by wilcomea on July 19, 2022, 4:12pm Amazing hits, a couple I'll never listen to again
Ambitions Beyond Pop submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2023, 11:50pm This is, in my estimation, the album that really cements the Beatles as one of the greatest bands of all time; with its dense instrumental arrangements and expanded sense of genre that encompasses the band’s heretofore usual Merseybeat pop-rock along with new hints of country music and even classical string quartets, it provides a glimpse of the Fab Four’s ambitions and proves that they had the talent to fulfill them. So many of these songs are among the band’s most memorable, and what is really remarkable about the album’s highlights is how different they are from each other: “Yesterday” and “Help!” are very distinct in style (to say nothing of the rock-and-roll banger “Dizzy Miss Lizzy”), but tracks like “I’ve Just Seen a Face” and “Ticket to Ride” help bridge the gaps and prevent the collection from sounding like a miscellaneous group of unrelated tracks, in addition to simply being great pieces of pop songwriting. Much more than just a film soundtrack, this is an incredible display of the Beatles’ creative drive and skill, and any skeptics will find an excellent argument here for why the band has such an immense reputation.
