I love book's about horses! submitted by KlezmerGirl on July 9, 2014, 5:46pm this book is awesome! when my mom first bought this book I didn't read it, but after I read black beauty (thats another awesome book about a horse) I decided to read misty and I loved it!!! I think that if you like horses than you should definitely read this and even if you don"t you still might like to try it.

My favorite book! submitted by Alexa4 on October 17, 2016, 7:10pm Marguerite henry is the best author of horse books and this book is absolutely amazing! It is a very touching story and is also written with lots of feeling. I can't wait to get this book. If you love horses, then you will definitely love the books by marguerite henry!

sequel submitted by rjsjwilliams on July 13, 2017, 11:46am Marguerite Henry is not appreciated by people who don't lovehorses, but should be read anyhow just for their spirit and love. Once you get started, you wont want to stop. Misty is one of the Chincoteague ponies that get rounded up from the island every year. A couple of children are involved with this story.

Childhood favorite submitted by ckfinzel on August 9, 2018, 11:14pm I loved this book as a child. Marguerite Henry writes interesting stories about horses and the people who love them.

Misty of Chincoteague submitted by leighsprauer on November 20, 2021, 8:02pm This is just a nice little book. I've had a copy for years that I bought my kids when they were little, but I'm not sure that they ever read it. I don't remember reading it as a child either, but it's definitely the kind of book I would have liked.
A brother and sister work hard to raise money to buy a horse of their own from the Chincoteague Pony Swim. After some drama, they end up with the horse that they wanted, but also get an unexpected gift. Henry sets the stage with a dramatic beginning, and then the book follows along at a nice pace - not overly flowery, like some books of the time, but just foreign enough to make it engaging for modern readers. I highly recommend this for almost any child, but especially one who likes the idea of being the master of her own fate.
