Amazing submitted by SapphoDash on June 17, 2014, 1:50pm This well written book takes you on a journey you will never forget through the depths of Chicago. It follows the Pearls, a lower class family with a deep compassion for one another. Than, after a mysterious turn of events, Early (the main character, an 11 year old), her brother and mother find themselves on a hunt for her father. It is an amazing book that will leave you wanting more.

This might be the best Blue Balliett book I've read. The characters are interesting; strong in harsh circumstances but also fragile. I like how poetry and rhythms and love of language permeates the story. There were a lot of meaty topic to discuss with my 12yo son as we read this aloud.
Hold fast to your dreams.
