A new John Rebus? submitted by Jannana37 on July 18, 2015, 9:13pm First book of Gene Kerrigan's I've read.
Modern Dublin - circa 2010 - has petty criminals, gangsters, a complicated armored car heist, and a detective who won't let his corrupt superiors keep him from investigating the situation. Detective Sergeant Bob Tidey of the Dublin Garda. Tidey is quite a bit like John Rebus of the Ian Rankin novels - drinks and smokes and sometimes takes shortcuts on his quest to find out the truth.
I read this book in one weekend day and am going to read everything else that Gene Kerrigan has written. Superb.
