Fitz learns the hard way, again. submitted by tisaallen on June 22, 2022, 3:31pm If you haven’t read the first 3 books in this series- the Assassin’s Apprentice trilogy- you should do that before you jump into these. They’re great, you’ll love them.

Fitz will never outrun being a Farseer. He belongs to them, and even his bond with Nighteyes cannot change the fact that eventually he will be dragged back into their web. He’s the Catalyst, he can’t hide from that. Being an adult hasn’t brought the maturity or self-awareness that would temper his rage or self-pity. He’s a good person at heart, but still deeply flawed.

Robin Hobb creates believably realistic characters, with the depth and and scope of actual people, set in a wildly fantastical world. I’ve been thinking that this series isn’t about magic and dragons so much as it is about love. Whether familial, romantic, or platonic, love can be expressed in many different ways without invalidating the existence of it.
