Just OK submitted by AprilCDB on June 19, 2015, 1:58pm This book was just ok, we read it once and returned it. Neither I, nor my son were particularly entertained by this book about how a tree came to be near the town’s supermarket.
A Charming Story submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 10:12pm This is a charming picture book that tells the story of how a young Father Cat came to plant an evergreen tree in the middle of Busytown. Scarry does a great job of weaving small details into the grander plot, tying everything together neatly in the end with a few side jokes in the illustrations. The book isn’t flashy, but it does have a gentle sense of warmth to it and, although most of the story does take place around Christmas, it works for any time of the year.
