Lacking in luster submitted by geneslibrary on August 31, 2017, 11:39am I'd read one of Laukkanen's earlier works (Kill Fee) and thought I'd read another. Should have written a review of Kill Fee so I'd remember something about the story but I didn't so I don't. Anyway, at least this time, forgettable characters, brief moments of action that are not particularly exciting, etc. Couldn't engage. Much prefer authors like F. Paul Wilson and John Connolly, Peter Hoeg, Lee Child, Mo Hayder, Stieg Larsson (rip), Henning Mankell, JK Rowling (when she sticks to Harry P and not otherwise). Good hooks, great characters.
