good submitted by watermelon on August 2, 2012, 2:14pm in colorado, 1925, the one room school house closes about a month before the term ends because the teachers mother in iowa got sick and she must leave to take care of her. the school board doesnt think its worth getting a new teacher for that short amount of time. the kids wouldnt mind a long vacatin but the thing is, they wouldnt get any credit for the year and would have to repeat everything. worst of all; ida and tom, 8th graders, wouldnt get to take their exit exams to get into high school, and this year is idas only chance because her familys farm has done well and can afford to pay. and so, the kids secretly continue with their schooling with ida as teacher.
Okay submitted by 529Reader on June 13, 2014, 11:40am this is one of the books you do not want to read over and over again. When you do know the ending and it is your 5th time reading it, it get's boring.
Great submitted by SakanaUshi on August 1, 2018, 12:51pm The night I read it, I wanted to read it again right then and there, but I didn't want to read past 10 pm, so i read it at school the next day.
