kind of disappointing submitted by 21621031390949 on July 19, 2018, 11:22pm Kind of disappointing book for me. It was written well enough, and the topic of end-of-life thoughts/conversations is interesting to me. But while I had anticipated a memoir about the author's and his mother's thoughts about death and dying, this book is much more of a celebratory tribute to his mother's life. That's a perfectly fine subject for a memoir, but alas, the more I learned about Simon's mother, the less I liked her. He adored her clearly, and she loved him, but despite the spin by the still-in-awe-of-his-mother son, I just don't respect or like many of the values she lived. I found it hard to finish, but.....I persisted!
