The best book. submitted by xXJ3NNYXx on July 10, 2007, 9:43am Twilight is just a flat out amazing book. Even reading the second and third time reading makes me have butterflies, and anxious for what happens next. It's that good. If you don't like vampires, then this book might change it all. It might be a YA book, but anyone can read it, and everyone needs to read it.

gripping submitted by marenjch on August 11, 2007, 9:48pm the only thing i don't like about these books is finishing them and having to return to a world that Edward, Bella, and the rest of the cast don't exist.

Amazing Work! submitted by Slavewoman on October 2, 2007, 9:22am I requested this book for my son, because it kept showing up on the Scholastic Book Order. He was NOT interested. This is not really a book for boys. However, since I had it, and was stuck waiting with nothing to do, I started reading it. This is truly fine writing. The emotions and feelings the writer evokes will hook you so deeply that immediately upon finishing the book you will start it over until you can get your hands on the 2nd one. If you are stuck waiting, check out the author's website (www.stepheniemeyer.com) for excerpts! This would be an excellent book if you needed to do a school project on character studies, or, really, any book report.

BEST BOOK EVER!!!!! submitted by Barricklow on March 15, 2008, 7:33am This is the best book ever!!!!! I'm not kidding!! I am in 5th grade and I loved it!!!!!!!

Read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disappointing Twilight submitted by Caser on August 13, 2008, 2:02pm Hype is not generated without reason, but hype doesn't equal merit, as Stephenie Meyer's 'Twilight' proves in the overlong first book in the wildly popular series. Bella, the teenage hero, is an instantly familiar character in her naive world-view and her whiny, middle class blues. Edward, the object of her obsession (and Meyer's apparantly), bellies up to the Byronic hero cliche ad nauseum, and their hand-holding, static relationship is what keeps the pages turning for most readers. Suggestion: go ahead and turn the pages freely, skimming over paragraphs at your leisure during the lifelessly driveling love story and get to the only compelling part of the novel, where James, the tracker vampire, begins hunting the heroes. But don't get your hopes up for a final confrontation worth the 300 or so pages you sloughed through to get there, for none of it happens on the page. Characters are rarely so flat and stereotypical, and plot so dull and anticlimactic in a book this hyped. To quote Chuck D, "don't believe the hype."

Deserving of its Popularity submitted by rleer24 on September 3, 2008, 1:08pm So here's the thing. This is a teen book, and for teen's the story line, the ideas, the plot, and even the character-types might be fresh and new. For anyone who is a little older, this book might ring a bit cliche and "Oh, I've seen this/felt this before".

Having said that, I loved this book. I don't care that Bella is a rather typical, self-conscious, doesn't-quite-fit-in teenage girl. Whatever. Although we know that character type, we can almost all relate to it, either in our present age or remembering what it was like to be 17. We can relive or experience for the first time a tale of the beauty of first love. Told in a way that is distinct from the typical, star-crossed, Romeo-and-Juliet romance, this story is all the more fantastical and engaging because the hero is a vampire!

Really, everyone has a particular type of monster/fantasy character they get a little silly about. Whether it be werewolves, vampires, zombies, invaders from space, or whatever, there are those of us who will read or watch anything to do with these beings. For me, it's vampires. And in my opinion, this is a great take on vampires and the possible way a teenage romance could happen between a human and a non-human.

Meyer does a great job of letting you relate to the characters and feel what they're feeling. Some might think the book is too long, but I wasn't ready for it to end. There is so much more that I want to know, and I'm curious to see how Meyer will let the vampire concept evolve. (Her take on why they can come out in the daylight is a new one to me.)

All in all, if you like flights of fantasy (and we all should indulge from time to time), read this. You'll love it. You'll want to keep reading. I know I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

awesome submitted by iraqigirl on October 24, 2008, 12:23pm This is the best book ever. i cant wait until the movie.

Twilight submitted by pandangel12 on June 25, 2011, 9:47am An ok book, better than the movie, but not as good as HP

It was great submitted by vmclaugh on June 27, 2011, 10:15am I love the story of how edward became a vampire

Good summer read submitted by adimarzo on June 27, 2011, 7:33pm Twilight was an enjoyable light read. The story moved along and the concepts were interesting. The dialog leaves something to be desired but the characters are compelling. This was my favorite of the Twilight series.

EVERYTHING submitted by Lindsie on June 30, 2011, 9:35am everything that stephanie meyer is great!! :) :) i really hope people read and watch twilight, new moon, eclipse, and breaking dawn (movie still coming out)!!

romantic submitted by blingo on July 7, 2011, 9:42am bella is in love with a vampire and he really wants to suck her blood but he loves her so he cant do it

Great page-turner, awful ending submitted by pk on July 7, 2011, 10:38pm I agree that is is a teen's book in many ways, but adults enjoy it too. It was light and frothy, a true page-turner. A little mystery, a lot of romance, just the thing for fun reading. Until the end. If Stephanie Meyer had allowed her heroine Bella to lift even one small finger to help herself escape certain doom, I would forgive her all the tired old sexist things in her book. But no. Bella sits and waits to be rescued. She cowers in a corner - thoroughly pathetic. I would have hoped that a modern heroine would do something, anything, to defeat the Evil and save herself, even if she needed the help of "her man" to finally escape.

Because of this, I never read another in the series. I can only hope Ms. Meyer came to her senses and strengthened Bella in future installments. I couldn't bear to waste my reading time to find out.

Okay submitted by ColeenT on July 12, 2011, 3:06pm It's my favorite book out of the entire series

Good Book submitted by jarroyo on July 14, 2011, 12:38pm I enjoyed this book. It kept me entertained. I did not want to put it down.

Very Entertaining submitted by lola13 on July 15, 2011, 11:46am A great page turner, I couldn't put it down! Really great!

Vampirific submitted by pubudu on July 18, 2011, 8:43am This book definitely earns the title of being a New York Times Bestseller. Although it is Teen Romance, it provides some action scenes from time to time.

Amazing submitted by Pavit on July 18, 2011, 3:24pm An amazing book -- just like everyone says it is!

perfect romance submitted by aschulte on July 18, 2011, 5:05pm Edward and Bella are in love until Jacob comes in. Romeo and Juliet is the same dilemma. This is a must read! But be careful this saga is dangerously addictive!

Awesome book submitted by Memoria1224 on July 25, 2011, 9:02pm This is an awesome book about vampires! I couldn't put the book down! I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Romantic submitted by Edbella9922 on August 6, 2011, 12:02pm The lost romance. The romance not meant to be, makes it so thrilling!

Awful submitted by Annimatronic on August 10, 2011, 4:25pm It scares me that teens will grow up thinking this is how one writes. Did Meyer not have an editor or was one clever editor hoping that she could expose the sham that is Stephanie Meyer?

Lovely Story submitted by Dayoung Nam on August 11, 2011, 5:13pm I can't understand who hate this story. I love it. This is a perfect book! This is the best book! This is an awesome book!
I LOVE THIS

twilight vs. harry potter submitted by alumeng.ajl on August 17, 2011, 7:15am one of my best friends says that u can't love harry potter and twilight at the same time. I proved her wrong. Loved this book! I think it's the best one in the series.

tantalizing submitted by jjdijkstra81 on August 26, 2011, 12:11am Supposed to be for teens, but I'm 30 years old and I ate it right up, along with the other three in this series.

Okay submitted by jangmikyoung on June 16, 2012, 9:13am This book was okay some parts were epic and some parts were just nah. I think that it would be great for people who are in high school.

Horrible submitted by glennauerbach on June 17, 2012, 11:48am This is a horrible series, I did not like it at all.

great submitted by buttercupsmiley on June 18, 2012, 10:07am very romantic and sweet

Romantic submitted by unknown on June 18, 2012, 10:41am twilight is a very romantic book.

A bad message submitted by jdev13 on June 22, 2012, 10:41am This book has horrible writing, and the story is one that glorifies abusive relationships. It's not really worth reading.

Better than the next submitted by shalinigurl on July 3, 2012, 12:47pm the whole twilight series stinks but except for maybe this book. this one isn't too bad because it has a decent amount of action and less romance than the rest. i recommend if you're really bored read this book but forget about the rest!

Not Impressed submitted by Maria Maguire on July 7, 2012, 12:32am Only read this book because my friend said I couldn't hate on it unless I read it. I still dislike it. Bella won't do a thing to help herself and is generally stupid, even as far as book characters go. The story was okay, some decent action and events, but overall I could not stand Bella.

Silly submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 17, 2012, 1:20pm I very much do NOT recommend the Twilight books nor the movies based on them. They are simulataneously too dark (Edward is very controlling towards Bella and she can't live without him) and too ridiculous (sparkly vampires? seriously?). For a more serious and meaningful look at vampires and their relationships with teen girls, watch "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

Ok submitted by smariej on August 31, 2012, 3:50pm I originally read this book before it became mega-popular or even was going to be a "saga". I liked it back then, and upon re-read as a more mature person realized that it is pure teen sappy romance, with the added bonus of being written by a Mormon who tries to telegraph the message to young girls that sex is wrong and any man you are with has the right to control you.

Loved it submitted by Motomori on June 18, 2013, 11:37am This was such a great book!!!! I loved it sooooo much! I would recommend it to people who like romance and make believe creatures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I didn't like was Bella. Bella for some reason annoyed me. She acted inferior to Edward which I really hated. If you just ignore those few things (which I didn't and I'm sure you can't either) then it's a really good book!!!!!!

LOVED IT submitted by hhpatel on July 9, 2013, 11:19am i am totally a twihard

Amazing submitted by cassandra_hultgren on June 23, 2014, 7:36pm This book was an amazing love story and I can't believe some people thought it was awful!

Twilight submitted by lgobrien on June 12, 2015, 3:30pm It is an interesting complication when Edward and jacob are fighting over the same girl: Bella. An interesting complication, as I said, but also a fun-to-read about complication. It's really fun to read about because you find yourself rooting for one of the boys, and hoping Bella chooses him. Other books I liked with this same two boys and one girl complication are The Hunger Games and The Selection.

melodrama submitted by dorothyyli on July 5, 2015, 8:12pm For YA readers that like melodrama. Disappointing because the plot devices are borrowed from Anne Rice, Anne Bishop and C.E. Murphy. Recycled, redundant and juvenile.

Good submitted by amills on June 19, 2016, 4:33pm It is about vampires and werewolfs

AWESOME MOVIE submitted by Nicholas M. on August 7, 2017, 8:25am i have not read the book but i have watched the movie and it was so awesome

Great submitted by c_.115 on June 18, 2018, 3:35pm It's a great book and it made me read practically all day!

Weird submitted by boocathy621 on June 18, 2018, 7:55pm Great writing but weird book. Not really into vampires.

Doesn't deserve all of the hate submitted by Rhodyjr on June 22, 2018, 1:23pm While I did not enjoy Twilight, I understand that some people do, and I do not believe that all of the opinions centered around it are fair.
It is not the worst book ever.

Not recommended submitted by ajstemp on June 28, 2018, 12:04pm Twilight tends to be polarizing, but it isn't the worst book out there. It's easily entertaining, especially if you're interested in love stories, but it does have its flaws. The characters aren't often well-developed, many are manipulative and maintain unhealthy relationship structures, and the plot isn't that surprising. If you're looking for a light read not to take too seriously, this might be worth it, but there are much better YA fiction books, too.

Twilight is amazing submitted by ogregory on July 12, 2018, 6:58am I read this book for the first time as a young adult and I fell in love with this book. It stars a little slow but it's only to build up the rest of the story. It really goes into detail about all the different characters, making it easy to relate and care for them. I highly recommend this book because once you read the first book you won't be able to stop, you'll want to read the rest of the series. Great read !

Fabulous submitted by melissahimich on July 15, 2018, 9:28pm This is such a great book. Such a great story! The series is so well written

5 Stars submitted by menmen on July 17, 2018, 5:44pm I like this book so much and I ready wanna continue to read the new moon after I finished. You should read that. It’s good definitely.

Not so bad! submitted by Smileyfrowns on August 20, 2018, 11:36pm Although this series gets a lot of hate, I don't think the books are that bad. It definitely is an interesting concept, and there are certain levels of detail put into elements of this book. I think readers can get invested in the relationships between people in these books.

No Thanks submitted by elizabeth mayhew on August 23, 2018, 12:28am I regret picking this book up and not dropping it immediately.

twilight submitted by liqian on June 15, 2019, 11:20am It is a really good book you should read it.

Bad writing submitted by gracekil on August 2, 2019, 3:55pm This is just terrible writing. The movie and storyline were good entertainment, so I thought I'd enjoy the book. Nope! It's so painful to read.

;) submitted by alicegz on August 14, 2019, 9:26pm Such an imaginative storyline!

Meh submitted by autumnmist on August 15, 2019, 3:33am So many people hated these books but I actually enjoyed it.

Awesome! submitted by edadeniz on June 11, 2020, 5:29pm I really enjoyed this book. I liked the nice mix of action and her normal life. It was very interesting. The writing was great, I didn't want to put it down.

Best Book Ever!!! submitted by Cloverdale on June 20, 2020, 2:54pm Loved this book best book I've read in Quarantine. Fantasy and Romance mixed together!!!

Good Read submitted by sarahwitt on June 22, 2020, 8:28pm Overall it's a good read. Conveys emotion well. Some chapters seem to drag more than others, while most the chapters are pretty good. Definitely leaves you turning pages quickly to find out the plot.

Amazing Book!!! submitted by rowanbillieeilishfan on June 25, 2020, 11:48am I loved this whole series! Definitely a twihard now.

Bad submitted by rebecca.perreault on July 11, 2020, 3:12am This is an overfluffed unrealistic romance that glorifies unhealthy relationships

It's okay. submitted by tbbrown76 on July 14, 2020, 10:51am The story takes an interesting spin on vampires and werewolves. But, the love story is a bit far fetched. Even for a vampire tale.
Semi-recommended.

Its a REALLY GOOD BOOK! submitted by EuniceWe on July 21, 2020, 2:42pm At first I thought it was kind of odd since its a story about vampire's but soon i was absolutely drawn in. Stephanie Meyer has a way of making something that does not have much action and still pull you in. I felt like I was Bella herself! It defiantly gives a nice twist to vampires and werewolves. The love story was as well interesting and the plot is very fascinating. I do think this book may not be for everyone if you don't like something to romancey.

Meh submitted by zmclaugh on July 26, 2020, 12:35pm I mean, it is what it is. And what it is is simple wish fulfillment.

Love it submitted by 2025MJW on August 4, 2020, 9:00am Twilight is an amazing book and i love it! It's a gripping novel just like all the others in the series! I seriously recommend finishing it and reading the rest of the series as well, it really pays off in the end.

L-O-V-E-D it. submitted by The Book Broken Girl on February 16, 2022, 3:18pm The emotional rollercoaster Bella and Edward's story takes you on will leave you up at night, flipping through the pages faster than the speed of light, dying to know what happens between girl and vampire.

Oh, twilight submitted by blancharddana on June 21, 2022, 2:18pm Loved this book as a teenager, now I think it's kinda stupid but that's okay.

i love it so far! submitted by pluto31_ on August 13, 2023, 10:39pm i'm reading it 18 YEARS after it came out, and i think it held up really well. i will be reading the next book

:D submitted by vclinton on August 26, 2023, 12:17am Don't be haters, this is pretty awesome for young adult vampire fiction. Doesn't anyone remember the disastrous writing of most of the young adult nineties?
