Youth level.
A mean old blacksmith defeats the devil and his young sons with a chair that won't stop rocking, a sledgehammer that won't stop pounding, and a fire bush that keeps on sticking. When Jack's time comes to die, they refuse him entrance to hell after St. Peter says he doesn't qualify for heaven. Jack is left to wander the swamp with a live coal.
COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Wicked Jack submitted by SBNB on June 20, 2019, 6:39pm This book was entertaining for me. It’s about a man who is supposedly worse than the devil and even outsmarts him. It’s also an origin story for those Appalachian mountain lights. That said, I didn’t read it to my 5-year-old because it didn’t quite seem appropriate at this point.
