Hasn't stood up to time submitted by crwilley on July 3, 2013, 2:39pm When I first read this, possibly before the fifth book in the series was published, it seemed like the best thing since Tolkien. I tried rereading it recently and just couldn't stand it; I think what bugged me is that all the characters are one-dimensional, maybe one-and-a-half on a good day. Maybe in the '80s it really was the best thing since Tolkien - but since then there's been a lot better written.

Pawn of Prophecy submitted by jlehr7 on August 31, 2018, 11:49pm The Belgariad and Mallorean (David & Leah Eddings) are a delight to read. The plot is engaging, and the characters are delightful. These are books you can get lost in.
