Book signings submitted by s80macdonald on September 20, 2010, 1:42pm Liz was at the Meijer on Friday and Sunday on the 17th and 19th. She was doing book signings which I am sorry for all who missed her! You can still purchase he book all week of the 19th at only 14.95 if you want to save 10 dollars off the cover price and own it for your collection. She is an amazing person and is very humble. She is doing a cross country tour for a fundraiser to aid kids who have no food. They fill backpacks for the kids so they have healthy food to eat on the weekend away from school. Google her name and you can find out how to contribute!

Good submitted by Midnight on June 25, 2014, 1:49pm She went to Harvard but she's not rich and born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her parents were drug addicts and sold their food for another shot. It's painful to read. Their family fell apart after her mother had HIV and her dad revealed he was gay. Sadly both of her parents died of HIV/AIDS.

A Memoir Worth Reading submitted by katieepage on August 23, 2015, 4:47pm Many memoirs are written by people with a story to tell, but who don't happen to be writers. Liz Murray is a talented writer with a fabulous story to tell. It's well worth the read and an amazing tale of courage and resilience.

5 of 5 stars submitted by cullerth on July 19, 2018, 9:47pm I remember seeing Liz on the Oprah show after school one day. I must have been in the 4th grade or so, but I was so inspired by Liz's story that it led me to the decision that no matter what, I was going to grow up and go away to college, too. And I did - remembering & revisiting Liz's story often throughout the years.

Well, my circumstances were nothing like Liz's. I didn't know her whole story until I ended up finding and reading her book after I graduated college. But I think the takeaway here is that her story is a gripping one that can have a profound impact on those that know it. Liz is an exemplar of grit and perseverance, showing that these qualities can be cultivated even in the midst of great instability and turmoil.
