Good` submitted by alumeng.ajl on July 28, 2011, 1:07pm this was good the end was kind of weird leaves u wondering how she learns the secret cant wait for 5th and final book
The ending? submitted by krishnansuresh on August 15, 2011, 9:45pm This book was a pretty good ending to the series, but I dont know whether I should call it an ending. It leaves you on such a good cliffhanger, it makes you almost certain that there is going to be a 5th book.

My biggest complaint with the first book in this series is that it was hard / annoying to read aloud. If I remember correctly, that was in part because of the intrusive narrator voice and some other similar annoyances. This one does not suffer from the same problems (or i've mellowed in the past few months). I didn't read books 2 or 3 because my son read them on his own, but other than a few elements where I wasn't quite sure why they were significant, I was able to read this without too much confusion.
The story alternates between the point of view of Max-Ernest (in the present) and Cass (somewhere back in the past - the reason for this may have been in book 3). Max-Ernest's chapters increase in count (1 to 10), while Cass's decrease (from -10 to -1 or maybe 0?). It is interesting to see how the story lines come together at the end.
The best
