If you've ever wondered what all the buildings on a farm are
submitted by hathaway1066 on August 25, 2013, 8:10pm
This book explains which buildings on a farm were for what specific purpose--spring houses vs chicken coops, and so on.
It also names and describes different styles of barns and barn features.
The descriptions are short and clear, and there are many clear drawings, sketches, and photos.
This is great resource if you are someone who loves to drive down a country road and take in a scenic view of farms and farmland, but who also wants to understand better what is going on in the buildings on a farm and what the details of a farm building tell about who built it and where they might have come from or what influenced them.
Incidentally, it also serves as a guide to the migration and immigration of different farming populations.
