Translation of : Prestuplenie i nakazanie.
Determined to overreach his humanity and assert his untrammelled individual will, Raskolnikov, an impoverished student living in the St. Petersburg of the Tsars, commits an act of murder and theft and sets into motion a story which, for its excrutiating suspense, its atmospheric vividness, and its profundity of characterization and vision, is almost unequaled in the literatures of the world. The best known of Dostoevsky's masterpieces, Crime and Punishment can bear any amount of rereading without losing a drop of its power over our imagination.

A great read! submitted by crankycrack on July 31, 2015, 10:04pm However I must admit I have never finished this book. I have tried three separate times going no further than pg 150 on all three occasions. I think this book may be my white whale.
Crime and Punishment submitted by maywang on July 9, 2021, 2:34pm A historic and very esteemed novel. Somewhat lived up to its name, disappointed me at times, but that applies to all famous works. Really enjoyed it (after some confusing re-reads).
Nah submitted by audreyhalversen on July 13, 2022, 11:26am It was a crime to write this book and is a punishment to read it. This book could have been 30 pages long. I usually love classics but this is the one classic I wish I could un-read.
